Catching up...new website....new song and a few interviews in-between.

Wow...so...i have been busy. With the holidays behind me I can steam roll right back into this project.

WEBSITE NEWS
I am very excited to inform folks that the "Last Seat" website is up and running. It can be seen here. www.thelastseatinthehouse.com
There are a few archival photos, and additional info about Bill and myself....enjoy!

NEW SONG
One hurdle of this project is getting great music, with a minimal budget it is tough. Since I am a musician and have many friends who are as well...I thought why not write and record my own music and it...which I ended up doing. My friend Doug Kwartler (dougmusic.com) who owns and runs Hollow Body Studios in Newton MA performed, recorded, and produced my song called "At The Last Seat in The House" its an epic tune about an epic subject...I hope you all like it. This song can be heard on the Last Seat website.

At the Last Seat in the House! (Is the first place you will find me)
Lyrics, Musical Arrangement and Drums by John Kane / Produced, Recorded, and all other Instruments Performed by Doug Kwartler
I got soul and…
Rock n Roll and…
Sound waves…
Running through my veins

Grab the keys to…
The van please dude
Another tour…
Come on let’s go

To the last seat in the house
It’s the first place you will find me…
Where all the pain and all the love
Come together and surround me…

I made the call to…
The concert hall
The bands late…
Watch them do it again

I heard Janis scream…
In that field of green
In the distance…
Jimi’s soloing

At the last seat in the house
Is the first place you will find me…
Where all the pain and all the love
Come together and surround me…

Out my window…
My rig is parked
The lights are dim…
The stage is dark

Oh, what a ride…
Night after night
If I could…
I would do it again

HANLEY SOUND REUNION

So what better way to capture memories than reminiscing with your old friends? It was essential that we pull all the old Hanley Sound crew together (well a not all but several). In December Rhoda (Bills Wife) and Bill Hosted the reunion at their house. It was a historic event with lots of memories shared...and I have it all on film. NEW ARCHIVAL PHOTOS
Ken Davidoff photographer of the West Palm Beach Pop Festival(68) and Miami Pop (68) has kindly contributed some photos (of Bill and the festival)  to the project.

INTERVIEWS

I spent some time in NYC a few weeks ago...one of my many trips to the big apple.
Here I interviewed the last of the Fillmore East crew and Woodstock team.

Joshua White (Joshua Light Show)
http://joshualightshow.com/about_joshua.html

There are many firsts in the the music business. We can consider Joshua the Father of Abstract Theatrical Light. His work is synonymous with the 1960s era music scene ...he was a wonderful person to interview.

Bio
Joshua White is renowned for his light show at the Fillmore East (not to be confused with the inanely re-branded The Fillmore New York at Irving Plaza) in the late sixties and early seventies. Employing an arsenal of various trailblazing effects, including the now-iconic “liquid light”, the Joshua Light Show catapulted Fillmore crowds into cosmic depths from which many have yet to return.
In his post-Fillmore life, White has gone on to a career in television direction and mixed-media art. But he continues to keep a few fingers dipped in the liquid light. This Wednesday, The Kitchen offers a rare chance to experience the Joshua Light Show, in collaboration with music and visual art duo Delia Gonzalez and Gavin Russom. In addition to the liquid light, White will lead a team of video artists, including Bec Stupak (Honeygun Labs), to improvise visuals behind a giant rear projection screen.

Chris Langhart

Chris Langhart was Woodstock's technical director and designer, Chris was the head of the theatrical technical department at New York University...awesome interview and an unsung hero of the Woodstock scene...without him lots of people would of suffered!

Bob Goddard

Bob also got his start at the Fillmore East working closely with Langhart and John Chester. These three really were the technical backbone of the Fillmore.

David Pelletier

Lastly there was one person I missed placing in the blog (sorry!) was David Pelletier. David has had a huge impact on the sound industry as an early force within Tycobrahe Sound Co. history.  David and I talk often and he stressed to me that Bill Hanley was a mentor of his...so we talked even more about it. David has worked with many influential artists in the music industry like the Rolling Stones and the Faces...to name a few. Dave has been very helpful towards the project and his interview will go down as legendary.
